Hi, I’m Julia
I believe all bodies are worthy of respect, dignity, and whole-being nourishment. I believe it is your birthright to experience your body as a vessel with innate wisdom, the capacity to feel deeply, and experience pleasure. I believe it is your birthright to connect authentically with people and endeavors you most care about. I believe it is your birthright to fully inhabit this mysterious and endlessly adaptable body.
And yet the forces that make this difficult are numerous. I recognize that our present-day relationship to food and body are shaped by our early and formative experiences of safety, belonging, and availability of nourishment. The influences of diet culture, body oppression, and other experiences that leave a trauma imprint in the body affect one’s ability to attune, listen, and respond to the needs of the body.
I have lived this first hand; I have walked the road of healing from an eating disorder, and struggled through the twists and turns of coming back home to my body. Yoga and ecstatic dance, embodied movement practice, have been, and continue to be profoundly healing for me. What I want to say is the path to this profound healing is not fast, but with patience and perseverance and trusted guides along the way, deeper and deeper levels of satisfaction, joy, and connection reveal themselves to you. And it is worth it.
Experiencing this path has softened and opened my heart. And now, with a highly compassionate, playful and relational style, my aim is to create an environment of safety and trust as fertile soil for your change process. This inherently involves leaning into discomfort. In these edges of discomfort, when coupled with support, growth occurs.
I believe that your desire to have a more peaceful relationship to food and your body can be a potent portal that opens into a deep, transformative, unexpected journey of connecting with your true power, your sovereignty, your voice, and your spirit. I believe that when we do the work to heal the divides within ourselves, we are healing the divides in the world.
I am committed to my own inner exploration and ever deepening journey of self-awareness and sovereignty. I am an avid experimenter of healing modalities, and have found profound benefits from breathwork, psychedelic therapy, soma bodywork, yoga, reiki, and ecstatic dance. I also believe in the alchemical magic of groups coming together to share, laugh, and heal together. I particularly love facilitating women’s circles and women’s retreats.
And for fun, I’m salsa dancing (or any other kind of dancing, really), playing with oracle cards or crystals, hanging out in nature, maybe on my paddle board.
I am glad you have landed in this place. You are welcome here. All parts of you are welcome here. And though I do not know you yet, my sense is that your body has been waiting, patiently, (and then perhaps not so patiently) for you to pause, turn toward it, and to finally begin to listen to the needs and wants spoken from your body, and to respond with care and kindness.
In a culture built on deprivation and disembodiment, this, responding with kindness, and choosing to deeply nourish yourself, is a revolutionary act.
Whether you are in the painful throws of an eating disorder, are at your wit’s end with trying to lose weight and never arriving “there”, experience body image struggles or body shame, feel like your body is a stranger to you, or are confused or overwhelmed about how to take care of your health in a sustainable way, I would be honored to be your partner and guide.
My work is grounded in the body-inclusive Heath at Every Size and Intuitive Eating paradigms. As a trauma-informed, somatically-oriented practitioner, my approach weaves together western science with eastern philosophy, spirituality and practical somatic exploration to support you on your path to a more connected, vibrant, embodied way of living. Polyvagal theory, attachment theory, the chakra system, mindfulness, cultural forces such as weight stigma, buddhist philosophy, embodied movement, and archetypal wisdom are some of the aspects I include to facilitate your journey of deepening into self-awareness and body trust.
